Time flew gradually as we attended a music concert in Hampi, India's one of the most famous historical places. But me and my friend Venu did not notice the time and now it was well beyond mid night. Adding to my disgust, there was not a single auto rickshaw at that time and I cursed myself for not coming on bike to a place which was so far from our guest house. With no other option around, we decided to walk our way to the guest house. The road was visible in the dim light of the moon and the weather was slowly changing. I am a big fan of Hampi since my childhood, not only cos of the beautiful architectures but also cos of the rich heritage it reflected. The night was not totally gloomy but it was dead silent with no other sounds except some crickets'. The coldness of the night is best known when experienced. We were walking without much talk. I lost myself in looking at those amazing buidings when the sound of auto rickshaw brought me to the real world. I was more than relieved at that time, nothing would have made me happier than reaching home in a vehicle. Fortunately, the autowala agreed to take to our place without much bargaining the fare.
I wasn't in a mood to talk to anyone but on the contrary my friend got into conversation with the autowala. This helped me to return back to my thoughts again. Admiring the beauty of the once glorious Hampi which is now destroyed to pieces yet successful in explaining the richness which it once possessed. Though looted for six months continuously by the rival kingdom, it still managed to stand tall against the injustice happened to it in the past. It looked amazing even in that faint light. While I was engaged in these kind of thoughts, we saw an old man covered himself in shawl walking alone with a stick in his hand at a distance. He seemed to walk at a very slow pace and stopped to ask lift. Venu told the autowala to stop and drop the old man wherever he wanted. But the autowala did not heed to Venu's words, instead drove fastly without talking. We both were suprised at his behaviour and Venu asked the reason for his unusual gesture. Then the autowala replied, with fear in his voice " That was not any man Saheb but ghost, people come to Hampi not only to see these monuments but also for doing the last rites of their ancestors. I believe in ghosts and its not good to stop at any random person at this hour. Did you observe, it had no legs!!" Though I was shocked to hear this, Venu got irritated and said " BS, I wont believe in all such crap. What proof do you have to explain this? " Then the autowala turned towards us " You should observe Saheb, observe carefully before coming to a conclusion. Look at my feet!", he screamed. Goodness gracious, he had no feet..!! This was enough for us to faint and we laid there unconsciously. Next morning, we woke up and found that we were robbed! That auto driver was no ghost but a freaking thief.!

Why this Kolaveri di?
There are some days when life decides to screw you real bad and you can do nothing much about it. Much like Murphy's law or the fourth law of thermodynamics which states "If anything can go wrong, it will." It was one such day when we had an inter-department match against the mighty Mechanical team who were the defending champions. I wasn't much worried about my team composition as we were strong too except few moronic friends who blackmailed me to take them in the team as we all were in final year and it would be the last game they will be playing. Most of the college gathered to watch the match as both teams were strong but the arrival of our class girls made me nervous. Its not that it was a bad omen or so, but our guys will be distracted from the game (yeah, me too! ) and it had happened before too that we lost a match which was a piece of cake. Some of my friends gave me a "you too, Brutus?" look as I had dropped them from the team for various reasons. Well anyway the match started and I lost the toss(maybe an omen). Mech decided to field first and we did our best to set a decent target. When the second innings started, they lost early wickets but they had a strong batting line up. The middle order played well and were so close to the target when they lost wickets in succession. We were very confident of winning at that moment. It had come to the last over when one of the moronic friends snatched the ball from me and said he will bowl the final over. I couldn't say no as they required another 20 runs to win and only 1 over was left. When I thought the stars favoured me, those guys hit all the required runs in that over and we lost yet again!!
Depressed and devastated, we attended the class( yeah, ours was the most screwed up department in the entire college. When all the students of college were in the ground, enjoying happily the fun week, we had to attend the class and maintain full attendance!). Unfortunately it was that lecturer's class who I hated the most and vice-versa. The class started and like most of the students in the class I too started nodding my head as if we all were in a spell. But I knew that they were watching that virtual TV like me which was being played in the background of our minds. I was watching "Sherlock Holmes" movie which was interrupted when my friend shook me incessantly. It took a while for me to come back to the real world only to find out that the lecturer was mad at me. He called my name with great difficulty as if it were a tongue twister and told to sit on the chair infront of him to hear his scoldings (Thanks to my height, his neck hurt when he scolded me while I was standing). After that bashing session, I was kicked out of the class room. I had no reasons to live then, so I started towards the canteen to find one.
There was one group of friends which always took resort in canteen than college and I joined them to share my tragedy. We were just looking at the girls who were coming to the canteen . Every girl seemed to be the most beautiful one until the next one came. The greatest of the myths is that when your friend tells you that a girl is staring at you and strangely you start to feel the same too. A beautiful girl staring is as good as feeling that the Aishwarya Rai's poster in your room, looking at you. No matter in which corner of the room you are, you feel that she is looking at you (Try, to experience). It happened so that one girl came to the counter and after a while started gazing at me. I was having a rough day but this incident pacified a little. Adding to it, she started walking towards me and said "Excuse me ". Startled to the core, I replied " yesss". But life had other plans, those next words from her, killed me almost. And she said " have change for Rs.500? ". The feeling that why doesn't the earth open its mouth and eat me occured . While my friends were laughing like crap, I asked the life silently "Why this Kolaveri di"? :(
Disaster...!
It was a dark and stormy night, when the howling of the dogs started their domination over the silent night. My chain of thoughts were detatched by the bus conductor when he asked me about the place I had to get down.. He replied calmly that we have passed that place and I had to get down at the next stop. I was startled by his coolness and was worried as the place I was about to get down was famous for Black magic kinda stuff.. it was KALGUDI.!! I couldn’t call my dad as my cell phone had died temporarily as there was no charge in it. It was a god forsaken place and nobody was around except a few stray dogs. I could see a man sitting on a stool below the dim street light. He was huge with big moustache and thick glasses but had a frail voice contradicting his heavy personality. I was too scared to talk to a stranger at that time. He insisted to give a drop to my home which I politely declined but he forced me to sit on his bike and started towards my home. It was a winter night and even in the chilled weather I was sweating cos of the fear. I was again lost in my thoughts when I heared a sudden thud of something heavy falling. I turned to look at the place where the sound came from. And the moment I looked forward, shivers ran down my spine and I was speechless, the big guy was not there but the bike was moving..!! I lost consciousness and fainted immediately.!
I woke up to find that it was just a horrible dream and nothing else and it was so much relieving. But it was not over yet, the conductor came to me and said that he didnot notice me as I was the only one in the bus. The place I had to get down had passed already and we were approaching the bus stop. But he assured me and told not to worry as there was a person who was going to my town and he had no problems in dropping me. He pointed at the man sitting infront of me. I almost died when the person waved at me as he was the same guy from the dream..!!
